Ship Capabilities

The CAS Foundation ship possesses unique capabilities and multi-task potential.

1.   The ship is equipped with a 20 ton crane that can lift cargo onto the deck where it can be secured for the trip.   It can handle both CONEX boxes that are used for shipping and other items such as palletized cargo and vehicles that might need to be transported.

 2.   The ship can sleep up to 50 persons in two areas that are complete with bunks, shower and bathroom facilities.   For a group that would take this to an area for relief work, they can live aboard while working in an undeveloped area.  They can have meals on board and in areas where the water is questionable or not safe, the ship carries its own water supply.

3.   The ship generates its own power.   There are three separate generators that can each generate power that is required by the ship.   This gives extra power for the proposed equipment on board that would be used in the medical area that we are proposing to expand.   The ship is also equipped with power connections that would enable this power to be transferred to shore.

4.   The ship is to be set up with a area for medical exam and treatment in consultation with doctors and other medical professionals.   The medical services offered will not be of long term needs, it is to take care of out patient type services, address trauma and serious needs to the point that they are stabilized and made ready for transport to longer term facilities. The following are the primary areas of focus:

 5.   The ship is not limited in its abilities; it is an ocean going vessel with 13,000 mile un-refueled range, and yet only needs approximately 18 feet of water due to its outstanding design.
